The Dash Charity is passionate about making change for people experiencing Domestic Abuse - they have supported the communities of East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for 45 years.
Dash provide a range of services to help women, men and children experiencing all forms of domestic abuse. They have a confidential helpline, refuge homes providing crisis accommodation for victims needing to flee from their abuser, an outreach service providing practical help, safety and emotional support to local victims and a specialist children's service to support local children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
Dash also provide educational programmes in schools and training and awareness sessions to professionals and public bodies.
Our services currently include:
* Confidential telephone Helpline
* Refuge crisis accommodation and access to a UK network of refuge space
* Advocacy and Outreach community services offering practical help and emotional support to adults assessed as being at medium or high risk of harm
* Specialist children’s therapeutic support for children and young people experiencing trauma as a result of domestic abuse
* Training and awareness – to reach out and encourage a better response to victims across organisations based in the Borough
Dash rely on donations to keep these services running. Last year their helpline received 1552 calls and since Covid-19 , referrals for adults have doubled, and for children, have tripled.

As a charity, we work within a framework that acknowledges the gendered nature of domestic abuse and addresses root cause issues of violence against women, which are embedded in the historical and cultural unequal status of women in society.
Weaved within all our practical work is a commitment to help each victim explore and understand their experiences and the effects upon them and their children, build upon identified skills and strengths with a view to build their resilience, confidence and self esteem.
We support all those within our community affected by Domestic Abuse by delivering a range of specialist services that will break the cycle of abuse enabling individuals and families to thrive.
