Friends of Tannery Drift School (FTDS) raise money throughout the academic year to fund projects, equipment or facilities which would not otherwise be funded, to enhance school life for the children of Tannery Drift First School.
FTDS is formed of every parent, carer and member of staff who helps to fundraise for the school – whether as part of the committee/membership, making donations, or organising/helping out at an event.
As with most charities, we have faced challenges with fundraising in the last couple of years, but continue to explore enjoyable ways to bring together, and support, our wider school community, such as this Aquathon.
As an example of how funds are spent, in 2020/2021 FTDS funded, or agreed to fund the following:
• Outdoor play equipment for KS1-2
• Reading Scheme books for Reception and KS2
• Non fiction books and fiction for KS2
• Whole school online Panto
• Gift of a book for every child - Story Time with Santa
• Early Years Ducklings
• Games for KS2 classes
• WOW days - Nursery space day, Reception travel day, Year 1 drumming workshop, Year 2 beach day, Year 3 Labtots workshops, Year 4 Stageright workshops
• Year Group discos
• Leavers' party donation

Being a parent has never been easy. It can be lonely, frustrating, heartbreaking and overwhelming, and life-changing events can happen to anyone.
We have supported local families since 1983 – working alongside parents through all kinds of tough times, such as:
> Mental ill-health and post-natal depression
> Isolation
> Physical disability and illness
> The end of a relationship
> Bereavement
> Multiple births
> Recovering from an abusive relationship,
> and so much more.
Our support is completely free, non-judgemental, compassionate and tailored to the needs of the family.
We help parents be the best they can be - to give their children a brighter future.
