Baby Loss Awareness Week provides Sands with a unique opportunity to further raise awareness about the issues surrounding pregnancy and baby loss in the UK. Here in the UK, Baby Loss Awareness Week is a collaboration between more than 60 charities in which Sands plays a pivotal role.
As we know the death of a baby is not rare. Every day in the UK around 15 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth. That means roughly every 90 minutes another family is faced with the devastation of the death of their baby and there hopes and dreams for the future shattered.
Sands is determined to make a real difference to the lives of bereaved families across the UK.
With your support during October we will be able to continue to deliver our crucial work supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, improving bereavement care and promoting research to save more babies' lives.
The funds generated from this year’s Wave of Light candles will enable us to continue to offer free bereavement support to anyone affected by the death of a baby, no matter how long ago. It means we can expand our bereavement support services and ensure they are accessible to every bereaved family throughout their journey.
Each candle lit in memory of a precious and much wanted baby, will be supporting our vision of a world where fewer babies die and helping to ensure that every bereaved family, wherever they live in the UK, gets the care and support they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it.
Every penny raised will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of bereaved families and help to save babies‘ lives.
