Give the gift of a PAT visit this Christmas

Decorated christmas tree surrounded by hanging baubles containing photos of smiley people during Pets As Therapy visits. This page is closed for public contributions.

Pets As Therapy (PAT) is the national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in communities across the UK. Our volunteers and their friendly pets visit places such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, schools, prisons and more.

The fundamental purpose of Pets As Therapy is the power of the human-animal bond. We know we can’t fix the world, but each and every day our volunteers are making a difference to people’s lives. From enabling someone lost in the fog of dementia to speak, to being there for a nurse who needs time out and a few moments of calm during a busy shift, our PAT Teams can help. We can also be a catalyst and help someone who’s reluctant to open up to share what’s wrong. Our impact is immediate, it’s in the here and now.

Give the gift of a PAT visit this Christmas by donating £3.

Your £3 could go towards a PAT visit in a care home where a resident may be feeling lonely and missing the companionship of a dog or cat, having had to give up their own pet. Your donation could also go towards a PAT visit to a children’s cancer ward where a friendly animal is an amazing distraction. Wherever we go, PAT visits brighten up people’s lives.

You can donate today and help to decorate our Christmas tree by switching on a fairy light, hanging a bauble or lighting up a candle. Your donation could be a special tribute made in memory of someone you love or a faithful pet – it’s a wonderful way to celebrate their life. Please add a photo and a message for others to see. We look forward to reading these.

A gift from you this Christmas will help us spread more festive cheer.

Pets are wonderful. They offer comfort, companionship and joy like nothing else—unconditionally, without judgment or expectations. Pets possess a unique ability to give us exactly what we need, even when we aren’t aware of it ourselves.

Imagine if we could bottle that magic and share it. That’s precisely what we do.

We connect our incredible nationwide community of pet owners and their temperament-assessed dogs and cats with schools, care homes, hospitals, and more, to boost moods, foster confidence, and brighten days.

By sharing everyday moments of magic—small joys without judgment—that not only lift someone’s spirits but can also shift their outlook more permanently, helping them feel happier and healthier, mentally and emotionally, long after the visit.

We are here to help more people experience the everyday moments of magic that pets bring.
