Welcome to the unofficial UoB Main Library & friends virtual holiday tree!
Children and Christmas belong together like Santa and his reindeer. However, not all children are guaranteed the happiest of Christmases, especially this year, so I thought it would be nice to try and help make it as special as it can be under the circumstances for some of those children and their families, which is why I have chosen Acorns as the charity for receiving donations from this tree.
I also wanted to acknowledge the fact that for many of us library colleagues and friends at UoB, we haven't seen each other except in Zoom calls since March, and that is not going to change before 2021. As this means no secret santas or desks decorated with cards, I also thought it would help us to feel a little less distant from each other if we had somewhere that we could each share our own festive message with our colleagues.
So, why not do both and donate an amount of your choice to Acorns to switch on one of the holiday lights on this tree, and leave a message for your library colleagues to wish them a peaceful holiday season?
Please note: Once a message has been left, you and anyone else who visits the page can read it.

Acorns provides care for babies, children and young people, who have life limiting or life threatening conditions. We offer a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support for local families.
Caring for a child with complex medical needs can place unimaginable demands on a family, both physically and emotionally. When time is short every moment is precious which is why, as well as providing specialist care, we help families to make lasting memories.
