Tuesday 4th December was the first Light up a Life service we attended, it was also the same day our beautiful Momma Jo passed away. All day we watched the hospice get all dressed up for the evening event. It brought us so much joy watching all the Christmas Spirit pour in through the hospice, we all kept saying how much Mom would have loved it. At 2pm I stepped outside for a breathe of fresh air, in front of me stood the Christmas tree. I walked closer only to see the most perfect Robin sat in the tree singing its heart out and at that moment I thought I must donate toward the event. So I brought my light and it was the one where I saw that little robin! At 4.10pm our beautiful Momma Jo gained her angel wings. Nothing prepares you for the loss of your Mom at such a young age but with the help of Weldmar and this event our family came together to remember Mom in a very special way. It will be 2 years since we lost Mom, it doesn't get any easier you just learn to live with the hole in your heart. As a family we will be tuning into the virtual event. If you can donate a small amount of money to get yourself a light in memory of Momma Jo or attended the virtual event and raise a glass to Momma Jo we would be very grateful. Lots of Love

Weldmar Hospicecare provides specialist end of life care for people living in Dorset. Our compassionate approach supports patients and their families in the community, at home, and in our hospice. All of our care is free.
We have a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers and counsellors, but only 21% of our funds are provided by the NHS – the rest is raised for our Dorset charity thanks to the support of the local community.
Our aim is to ensure all patients needing end of life care in Dorset have access to excellent services, delivered when they are needed, meeting individual needs of patients and their loved ones.
