Fundraising and engagement in the workplace

Whether you're planning to raise money for a good cause or simply looking for an effective way to collect and display messages from colleagues, Visufund is a great tool for the workplace.

In this blog, we'll be sharing 5 examples of the different ways that your company can use Visufund to achieve your goals.

1. Team fundraising pages

Do your teammates enjoy a bit of healthy competition? Perhaps you have a few colleagues who are planning to participate in a sporting event, such as a race or ride? If so, they'll love using a visual fundraising page to show progress towards their fundraising goals. This is much more interactive than a standard online sponsorship page. For example, using one of our grandstand templates, people can make a donation to add a spectator to the crowd and leave a message to wish them luck.

Not only can pages be used to raise money, but also at a quick glance, teams will be able to see who has received the highest number of donations. How? Simply look at the page to see who has the biggest cheer squad!

2. Celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or retirement

When everybody used to work in the same office or building, it was easy to pass a card around for everybody to sign on someone's birthday. But as more people work from home or at different sites, it can be difficult to maintain that same level of community.

Next time you want to celebrate someone's birthday or congratulate them on their retirement, why not try creating an online Visufund page? Simply choose the most appropriate design to suit the occasion and share the link with colleagues so they can go to the page and leave a public message - think of it like a giant e-card! When everyone has made their contribution, send the link to the lucky recipient so they can read their messages.

Top tip: To avoid spoiling the surprise before you're ready to share, set your page to Private mode. Also, don't forget, fundraising is optional using a Supporter account. If you're just collecting messages and don't want to raise money, simply set your page as a Message Board.

3. Sponsoring a charity appeal

If your company already has an established relationship or partnership with a charity, you might want to speak to them about sponsorship opportunities to support their existing fundraising activity. For example, if the charity is running an event or sending out an expensive direct mail pack to their supporters, your company could offer to give some money towards these costs in exchange for having your logo printed in the event programme or on a promotional flyer.

Another way that charities can recognise their sponsors and corporate supporters is to reserve a high value object on their Visufund page to say thank you. For example, in 2022, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice used the top star on their Christmas tree to publicly acknowledge and thank their corporate supporter, EDF.

4. Collecting donations from colleagues, clients or customers

Show a charity how much you care by creating an online fundraising page to collect donations from your community - whether that's colleagues, clients or customers. If there's a cause that you're passionate about, you can ask people to make contributions to help you towards your fundraising goals and support your chosen charity.

Here's some ideas:

  • Want to raise money to buy toys for a children's hospital? Try one of our presents templates, where each donor adds a gift to the page.
  • Want to ensure that nobody in your community goes hungry? Try one of our food-themed templates, such as the Food Bank.
  • Supporting an animal charity? Choose an animal template.
  • Holding a Christmas fundraiser? Encourage people to wear their favourite festive jumper and make a donation to your chosen charity - use the Christmas Jumpers template to collect donations.

5. Staff awards

Another great way that we've seen companies using their Visufund accounts is to create a page for staff to publicly nominate colleagues and teams for staff awards. Public messages can be posted on the page to say a big THANK YOU or WELL DONE to staff who deserve recognition for their hard work.

You could use any template to do this, but we know a lot of people like to go for a stars template, like Star of Stars. After all, your colleagues deserve to be recognised for being the super stars that they are!
