Sponsor an older person this October! - Age Concern Hampshire

As we face the coming Autumn and Winter months, we also face the worst cost of living crisis the UK has seen for decades. The rising fuel and food costs mean as a nation we have a tough winter ahead with the most vulnerable being hardest hit. Experts had predicted that the energy price cap would rise to £4,266 per year for a typical household, which equates to 45% of the current state pension. Many older people will not be able to afford to heat their homes putting them at severe risk. Even with Liz Truss’ announcement that the price cap would not exceed £2,500, most people in society are still going to struggle to pay the bills.

At Age Concern Hampshire, we want to help address some of the issues resulting from the cost of living crisis so that older people do not get left in the cold in these difficult coming months, but this is only something we can do with the help of our generous supporters. We are proposing to run a Winter Warmer club for the more vulnerable members of the older community where they will be provided with a nutritious 2 course hot meal, activities, and companionship in a warm and safe environment.
