There are an estimated 7 million carers in the UK - that's 1 in 10 people. 3 in 5 of us will become a carer in our lifetime.
Carers Trust is proud to support more than 450,000 carers, including over 47,000 young carers.
With your support this Christmas, we will be able to reach even more carers who need our help. So this Christmas, put a gift on the tree and brighten up this festive season for carers.
Ella’s story:
Ella is 25 and spends over 100 hours a week caring for her parents. Her parents have complex health problems including Parkinson's and dementia and rely on Ella to meet their caring needs, being reluctant to ask for outside help. As a result, Ella has found it hard to maintain a job. She was relying on Carers Allowance of £67.25 a week.
Ella has ambitions of her own. She is interested in holistic therapies and wanted to start her own business. With the help of her local carers service, she successfully applied for a grant from Carers Trust, which has paid for courses to help her get her business off the ground.
Grants are just one of the many ways Carers Trust supports unpaid carers in need. Your support this Christmas could make a real difference to the lives of many more unpaid carers:
-£10 Could provide a winter care package consisting of items such as hot chocolate, hand cream and bath salts, for a carer to take care of themselves this festive season.
-£25 Could help put a Christmas meal on the table for a carer whose family has been over-stretched financially this Christmas.
-£50 Could help a carer keep their family warm and safe this Christmas, by purchasing clothes like a coat, hat, and gloves to see them through the winter.
-£250 Could help provide equipment like a laptop or iPad for a carer to help them stay connected with friends and family, whilst shielding with the person they care for this Christmas.

Carers Trust is a major charity for, with and about carers. We work to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. Our vision is that unpaid carers count and can access the help they need to live their lives.
