Rather than send Xmas cards I have chosen to support The Chris Aked Foundation by purchasing a star for the Xmas tree and wishing all my friends A Very Merry Xmas. Why not join me!
The Chris Aked Foundation is a charity very close to my heart. Chris was an assistant professional at Royal Blackheath Golf Club where I am currently the Captain of the Ladies. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer and passed away in 2017 when he was only 33. The charity provides support to the children of families dealing with cancer and other life affecting illnesses, offering help through physical and sporting activities, counselling and memory-making days.

The Chris Aked Foundation
Charity no. 1177914
Chris Aked was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2017, when his baby daughter was only 11 weeks old. He fought hard, and his family were hopeful he would recover, but unfortunately the cancer was diagnosed too late and he died just five months later aged only 33. Whilst caring for Chris, it became apparent that there's little support for children when their parents or siblings have cancer and are undergoing treatment. Children are often side lined during this time and have to adapt during a very tough and traumatic period. They don’t always receive the focus, support and care they require, at a time when they need it most. The Chris Aked Foundation was set up to provide support to these children offering help through physical and sporting activities, counselling and memory-making days.
