Christmas should feel magical, but for families struggling to afford everyday essentials, it can bring added pressure and anxiety instead of joy. Parents want to create happy memories, yet buying presents may mean stretching an already tight budget. That pressure is increasingly visible to us, and we regularly meet families who are using Klarna pay in instalment schemes for food. Requests to us for supermarket vouchers and children’s clothing also rise before and after the Christmas and New Year period.
Behind every one of these requests is a parent doing their very best for their child.
This Christmas, we hope to raise over £5,000 to help ScotsCare support children and young people of Scots in London who are struggling, during and after the festive season.
Small things make a big difference
ScotsCare provides the essential clothing for all ScotsCare children as well as activity grants that enable them to take part in meaningful activities such as music, art and sport, maths and English tuition, counselling and family activity holidays.
The scale of this support is reflected in our work during 2025/26: we provided 315 clothing grants costing £47,927, 80 activity grants totalling £43,501, and PGL holidays for 72 children from 41 families, costing £44,269. We also provided £2,250 in emergency food and energy vouchers.
Here’s where your kindness matters:
• £500 towards a family activity holiday
• £150 for clothing, music, art, sport or tuition
• £75, £50 or £25 to support a child or family wherever the need is greatest
Thanks for taking the time to read this; we hope you’ll make a donation!
