Kicks Count is dedicated to reducing the UK's high rates of stillbirth and neonatal death by raising awareness of baby movements. In the UK, 7 babies are stillborn every single day.
A key warning sign of a baby in distress is a decrease in movements. When a baby is deprived of oxygen, they will slow their movements to conserve it. About 50% of mothers who experienced a stillbirth noticed a reduction in their baby’s movements beforehand. Early detection and immediate reporting of any changes in movement can potentially prevent a third of stillbirths.
Kicks Count believe that raising awareness about baby movements and encouraging immediate reporting of any changes can make a significant difference. We produce leaflets and posters for maternity units, scan clinics and doctors surgeries across the UK free of charge. By remembering a lost loved one this Christmas, you will be helping us produce more leaflets and decrease the heartbreaking stillbirth rates.
