After a lingering cough and a few courses of antibiotics, I was rushed to hospital in May 2016. After an eight day stay in ICU with pneaumonia and a few extra days on the ward, I was sent home to recuperate. It came as a surprise when I was called back to the hospital where I was told they'd found some abnormal cells on my lungs. Forever the optimist, I thought it was probably a resilient infection and even when they suggested it could be cancer I had every belief it wouldn't be. After numerous tests I was finally diagnosed with non small cell adino carcinoma in the July (first week of the school holidays). We were totally devastated and telling the children broke my heart. My health was deteriorating rapidly and when they went back to school I felt helpless that I couldn't even take them or do anything indoors. I started treatment in the September and started to improve rapidly. I've been having treatment regularly since then (20+ chemo cycles) my health has improved radically. None of us know what the future holds, but now I'm nearly firing on all cylinders and appreciate every single moment I'm here with my family & friends. I believe positive thinking is helping with my fight and I will continue to remain positive and optimistic
