Giving Tuesday and this Giving Tree in particular are one of the most important moments of the year for Houston Cares Animal Rescue. As a rescue sustained by donations and small grants, this fundraiser directly determines how many animals we can pull from unsafe situations, how much medical care we can provide, and how many lives we can save in the months ahead. We don’t have large sponsors or institutional funding; we have our community. Every gift, every share, every act of support shows how much our community can accomplish when we work together to give animals a second chance. Your support during this campaign is what keeps our work possible.

Houston Cares Animal Rescue is a 100% foster-based, volunteer-led 501c3 non-profit working to save homeless and abandoned animals in the Houston area. Started in 2014 by a small group of neighbors, the rescue has expanded to hundreds of volunteers spread throughout Houston, rescuing ~300 dogs and cats per year from homelessness, abandonment, and owner surrender. Houston Cares Animal Rescue prides itself on its community-based, foster-focused approach to rescue by providing a safe, home environment for our foster animals and multiple support systems for our foster families. Additionally, the rescue has an active and growing Trap-Neuter-Release program focused on reducing community cat populations via TNR and rescue of kittens born to feral mothers. Houston Cares is entirely supported by donations, primarily from individual supporters, and small program grants.
