The Helensville district has a rich film history, but most of it is still sitting on quickly aging reels. We have the 1947 VJ Day Parade, the South Head causeway construction, A & P shows from the 1960s and so much more. We need to get it all into a form that we can access for future generations before it is too late.

Kia ora. Te Awaroa Museum invites visitors to learn about the various cultures that helped form our region. First Polynesian settlers and then European were lured by the Kaipara Harbour and Kaipara River. We are presenting the district's history in a manner that everyone can relate to and we are preserving it for future generations.
