Decorate Our Tree With Love this Christmas!
Let's make our virtual Christmas Tree at the Calman Centre as bright and as beautiful as possible, with your messages of love. Dedicate a light, a bauble or the top star to a loved one and help us support people affected by cancer in Scotland.
Cancer Support Scotland (formerly Tak Tent) exists to act as a pillar of support for people facing cancer. As Scotland’s cancer charity, we have been the wellbeing champions for people affected by cancer for over 40 years, not only for those diagnosed, but for their loved ones and carers too.
We deliver high-quality counselling, complementary therapy and stress management services to promote mental and physical wellbeing and to enable those affected by cancer to continue to live the most active life possible in their community.
One in three people who receive a cancer diagnosis subsequently suffer from depression or anxiety, with many patients reporting a decline in their mental health after their treatment finishes and their available clinical support is reduced. There is evidence that higher levels of emotional well-being are beneficial for recovery and survival in physically ill patients. The findings of this study showed that emotional well-being predicts long-term prognosis of physical illness, suggesting that enhancement of emotional wellbeing may improve the prognosis of physical illness.
Our focus, therefore, is ensuring that the support required to live well with, and after, cancer is available to anyone who needs it.
