Chase the rainbow - Urgent Appeal - Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

As we all adjust to the restrictions of COVID-19, one thing has become very apparent: how much we miss our family and friends.

That's why we've created our 'Chase the Rainbow' fundraising appeal, helping us stay connected whilst keeping apart.

Please help us to fill our windows with rainbows or teddy bears to spread love and positivity. Simply choose your rainbow or teddy bear and write a message of love and support. This message can be sent to a family member or friend to show them you're thinking of them or to support someone living with lung cancer, someone like Sasha.


"Living with lung cancer means constantly living in fear of the unknown. You are in constant fear that your cancer might spread, or your treatment has stopped working. COVID-19 has magnified this fear. If I catch the virus, it’s likely I will need hospitalisation. The thought of being admitted into hospital, away from my husband, is so frightening to me that I don’t even want to think about it.

I can’t tell you how reassuring it is to know they are there. I know if I have any question, the Ask the Nurse service will find the answer and that, despite everything that is happening as a result of COVID-19, they are still in my corner. I would be devastated if they weren’t here anymore. It would be like my lifeline had been taken away."

People like Sasha who are living with lung cancer are one of the most ‘vulnerable’ groups of people at risk to serious illness if they contract coronavirus. In addition to this, many are faced with the very realistic prospect that their treatment may be postponed. This is understandably creating high levels anxiety and worry.

As a result, calls to our Ask the nurse service are at their highest levels whilst our latest service – our Keep in Touch Support Service – is ensuring the most socially isolated are not overlooked, or forgotten.

However, with events cancelled, social distancing putting a stop to traditional fundraising and our shops forced to close, we may not be able to help everyone.
We are calling on our supporters to make an urgent donation to ensure those with lung cancer get the help, support and information they need at this unprecedented and anxious time.
