While many are winding down for the holidays, nurses and midwives remain as busy as ever. That’s because health problems don’t take a break for the festivities and babies must still make their way into the world, and these incredible professionals are there for us all year round.
Cavell is celebrating the nursing and midwifery staff that work through the holidays by asking people to leave a message of appreciation and a donation amount of your choice on the Cavell Christmas tree.
This year, nurses and midwives across the UK will be putting on their Santa hats and a big smile for their patients, despite being away from their own family, and despite the personal challenges they may be facing. You can say thank you and make a difference by donating to the Cavell Christmas tree today.
Your donation will ensure that nurses and midwives facing financial and personal crisis have somewhere to turn for support.
Your donation helps nurses like Donna, who had nowhere to live with her 9-year-old son after her partner died suddenly of cancer and her house was no longer her own. After receiving a grant from Cavell to help put down a rental deposit, Donna said, “We narrowly missed being homeless and I believe without Cavell’s help, we would have been… Our home means so much to us; it’s a place where we feel safe and secure and can deal with our emotions and grief.”
Will you be the first to light up the Cavell Christmas tree and give the gift of kindness and support to the nurses and midwives that are there for us all?

Cavell is the charity supporting UK nurses, midwives and nursing associates, working and retired, when they’re suffering personal or financial hardship.
Cavell makes a profound difference for nursing and midwifery professionals during their most challenging moments. As they navigate crises exacerbated by factors like staffing shortages and burnout, whilst facing personal and financial hardship often due to illness, disability, domestic abuse and more, Cavell gives essential financial, emotional and holistic support.
The charity offers an effective, tailored package of support to help everyone who gets in touch. We give emotional support for those in crisis, advice on maximising benefits, signposting and referrals to specialist services, one-off grants to quickly relieve financial hardship and rapid emergency funding for those at great risk.
