Arise butterflies and Thyroid Champions!
The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland which controls every cell in your body. Disorders of the thyroid can be highly debilitating but are seldom talked about and not always effectively managed. Thyroid patients are often dismissed and overlooked, yet some have a really difficult time with their condition. It's time for things to change.
World Thyroid Day is 25th May, the start of World Thyroid Week, which runs until 31st May. Let's make the most of it.
The Thyroid Trust is working to make things better and raise awareness for people affected by thyroid disease, including friends family and interested professionals.
Please help us to keep going and do more to make a positive difference: select a butterfly, make a donation - and add your personal message to this page. You can even upload your own photo to be seen with all the other butterflies!
It means the world to all of us to know that we're not alone with thyroid disease.
See our website for more ways to get involved. Could you be a Butterfly Runner, hold a Butterfly Picnic or go for a Butterfly Walk or Bike Ride? submit your story, write a poem, help with campaigning or support fellow patients. If you are a medic you are kindly invited to play too! We can all support and learn from each other! Awareness raising activities don't have to be butterfly themed of course - you can be a Thyroid Champion, or ask someone else if they'll consider being one. Be inspired. Arise butterflies!
